“Five, four, three, two, one. ”
New Year of 2015 came with the sound of counting down. It was the early morning of Jan 1, when people got back from offices 6 hours earlier, enjoyed the luxury holiday and prayed for the future. Multiple wonderful wishes were made in numerous hearts. You may not know that six hours later a group of guys from different places would assemble in the central part of China by airplane, high-speed train or sleeper.
It ’ s a premeditated event; participants all gathered for a single purpose. They used “ born from love, little kindness equals great love ”as their secret signals and code-named their action as “ Free Lunch ”. It is said that this action was meant to help starving Chinese children grow up healthily. They had a uniform name, that is “ volunteer ” .
Jan 2, 2015, Free Lunch volunteers from all over China held the first meeting this year in Changsha, Hunan. Representatives of volunteers contributed their wisdom and shared cases about fund-raising, school-administering, team-building and promoting respectively.
The sharing meeting was commenced by Min Yuexiang from Team Jiujiang. Team Jiujiang, the biggest team in the conference, consist of eight members; officials of Promotion Department from local government accompanied volunteers at their own expense. The secret of Team Jiujiang's success is integrating resources and cooperating with the government.
Wa Lan, the representative of Team Guizhou, shared creative methods of team work. Team Guizhou formed clear, precise management approaches about capital security and food security, which got better and better through practice.
After the 2013 Ya ’ an earthquake, volunteers offered victims bowls of hot food, which touched the audience present. Yu Yongxiao, the representative of Sichuan Ya ’ an and the PPT maker suggested that since 201, team members had been traveling and speaking for the hungry, cold kids and volunteering wherever they were needed in Sichuan.
Team Liangfantuan of South-western area two was expanding. The team had a dozen of people when founded in 2012 and it reached more than fifty core volunteers at present. “We carried out Free Lunch in Liangshan by activities held online and offline.” said Zhang Zhihao, the representative. He proudly introduced their special activities such as “Public Welfare hiking”, "Big hand holding small hand-parental care”, so that more compassionate people could know and get involved in Free Lunch public activities.
“Activating the positive energy in people around us is our task.” Lu Miaohui, the representative from Team Shenzhen indicated that through effective communication mechanism they should not only energize people who are friendly toward Free Lunch but also take full advantages of volunteers’ advantages of capability and resources.
Representative of University Student Post, Huang Xiaolu mentioned that they united college students to carry out activities like charity concert, color run for public benefits, university tour through Guangzhou, Free Lunch sharing conference. Summarizing these ingenious, effective movements, University Student Post constructed a professional, efficient, low-cost action pattern.
“Free Lunch in the capital of porcelain, just gang up” The team member Anan from Jingde Town said that daring words. Anan, the soul of the team who raised over five hundred thousand yuan, used to be a flexible, motivated media worker. His passionate speech was greeted with great applause.

At the end of the meeting, participants anonymously voted for three best cases. The three cases are ‘Unite university students, create promoting methods’ from Huang Xiaolu, University Student Post, ‘Free Lunch in the capital of porcelain, just gang up’ from Anan, Jingde Town and ‘Volunteers to the power of N ’ from Team Guangzhou.
Deng Fei awarded winning teams with china-doll named Free Lunch Girl made in Jingde Town. He appreciated their hard work, creativity and contributions to Free Lunch. He and the new committee hoped that Free Lunch would prosper in the upcoming year and offer more care and warmness to kids in countryside.
