In March, 2011, in the mountains of Guizhou, I met a group of hungry children. Since we couldn't stand to watch their sufferings, as reporters, we initiated the Free Lunch For Children. Our dream is to let every rural teenager receive a lunch so that they can have enough energy to go to school and have a comparatively equal opportunity to change their destinies through effort and avoid being lost.


In the last four years, we were so lucky as many people joined us. We started from the bottom up and cumulated less to more and accomplished this dream day by day.


Around a long period, I thought I was the father of FLFC and I should be responsible for it as I set up it. We need to pull, lead, criticize, teach and manage it. But later I understood that it was an independent life form, which has its growth pattern, logic and mode of thinking, so I need to respect it. At least, it is equal to me. More likely, when we take actions to solve social problems, it accumulates enormous power and keeps its fission to create more values for theChinasociety because of its openness, association and new mode of thinking. I am willing to become a footstone of it.


In addition, I am having an innovation as well. In the past, we help children by increasing benefits for them and giving fish for them to eat. However, it is not the radical approach to solve this problem. We should help their parents increase incomes and fish, but it is not enough. In the children’s county, we are helping to build the tourist and agricultural products industries and breeding fish with their parents.


So in the end of 2014, we started a democratic revolution of FLFC. I resigned from my post as the executive director of FLFC foundation committee and I returned FLFC to the society; I tried to set up the new mood of organization and explored new power. In our dream, FLFC should be like this:


1.All of it are belonging to the society and it should return to the society.

In the last four years, we have been keeping transparent and open, uniting various powers from the society. What made us feel proud was that small donation accounted for 68% of the overall donation of FLFC, which created a record in the public welfare sector. Volunteers of FLFC are all around cities of the nation and conducting presentations and donations everyday. Next, we will try to find a donator for each child separately and let each school connects to a Wechat group of donators, so we can realize the school contract system and directly and thoroughly return the right of information , participation, administration and supervision to the society; the staff of FLFC turn to provide professional services.

2.The inner management of FLFC is democratic.

I have long been the locomotive and lead it to go ahead, while the strength of one person is limited and we met many difficulties and made many mistakes; then we gradually found the value of democratic consultation, multicenter and self-organization. Among the work partners and volunteers all over the country, we elected 45 national representatives and a management committee, which elected three centers for execution. Then those representatives would elect a supervision committee, which would supervise the management committee and execution committee. We reached a consensus by consulting and established regulations; all the actions would abide by regulations and be trained by laws. We will remember the equal status of right, duty and benefit and promote our activities peacefully and stably. We have the freedom to criticize and express so that everyone can have a chance to express his views in public. We create and preserve the FLFC culture which is open, just and cooperative.


3.The future of FLFC is open and associated.

 

In the schools of FLFC, we found several problems, including children’s diseases, children sexual assaults, dormitory shortages, living hardships of semi-orphans. So we need to keep driving forces to set up new teams, such asChinarural kids care, warm current, girls protection, light Yushu, gleaner plan, the flying box and so on. With the help of Zhejiang Jincheng Group and Hengsheng Technology Park, we arrived in Hangzhou and set up two offices; we are becoming a cluster and change into a platform ofChinarural children association welfare eventually. Only the platform is formed, are we able to unite other more teams which service rural children and form a bigger power to meet more demands from rural children.


At last, I appreciate the presence of China Welfare Fund, partners from different governments and companies that we unite governments, companies and social organizations to fight for the welfare of the children together.


Thanks our full-time and part- time partners and principals, teachers and cooks from more than 400 schools. I appreciate you that you bear the skimpy pay and undertake the heavy work tasks everyday. I saw your insistence and sacrifice and I would remember it in my heart.


Thanks the presence of donators, volunteers and friends, who leave Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha and different places around the country for here today. In the past four years, you always donated money and energy; you are selfless and sticking to us. You are the most valuable source or root of FLFC.


Finally, I sincerely appreciate the unattended children who don’t have parents’ accompanies. We never invite them to say thank you in the stage of city, because we have guilty in our heart that we haven’t done well enough so that they encounter many troubles when they arrive this world. It is also because of their sufferings, we can have a opportunity to take actions and service them. They help us become better men.
